ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
ACADIA NATIONAL PARKhas two pet-friendly campgrounds:Blackwoods
and Seawall. Dogs are allowed at both, but must be kept on a leash and
can't be left alone.
PLEASANT LAKE CAMPING AREA offers family camping with
120 tent and RV sites. There's plenty here to keep the family busy,
including basketball courts, hiking trails, a boat ramp, horseshoe
pits, a playground, and a camp store. Quiet, well-behaved, leashed dogs
an oceanfront campground just outside Acadia National Park, has both
ocean sites and forest camping. Full facilities, showers, a
beach, and kayak rentals are available. Pets are allowed on leash.
BAR HARBOR KOA,
with great views of Western Bay, has both oceanfront and wooded sites
for tents and RVs, a game room, a patio, a playground, a private beach,
and sports courts. Non-aggressive dogs are welcome so long as owners
agree to use leashes and clean up messes.
BAR HARBOR WOODLANDS KOA
offers 100 wooded and sunny sites on 50 acres, a playground, a heated
swimming pool, a recreation room, a pond, a camp store, laundry
facilities, and a basketball court. Friendly dogs are permitted as long
as they are quiet, leashed, cleaned-up after, and not left unattended.
HADLEY'S POINT CAMPGROUND
welcomes leashed pets at no extra charge. Each RV and tent site has a
fireplace and picnic table; campers also have access to a heated pool,
laundry facilities, shuffleboard courts, church services, and an
assortment of planned activities.
MOUNT DESERT NARROWS CAMPING RESORT
offers nightly live entertainment in summer (including magicians, Elvis
impersonators, sing-alongs, crafts, and movies), 25 acres for tenting,
complete hookups for RVs, a heated pool, canoe rentals, a camp store,
and a playground. Dogs must be quiet, on a leash, and attended-to at
BASS HARBOR CAMPGROUND has
cozy cabins that include a microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, gas
grill, and picnic table. Some have lofts. Children under 18 free. Pets
which has a few RV sites, caters mostly to people with pop-up campers
and smaller RV's. There also are tent sites and cabins for rent. Dogs
are welcome for an extra fee of a dollar a night, providing they are
quiet, well-behaved, and cleaned up after.
MOORINGS OCEANFRONT RV RESORT, located directly on the ocean,
welcomes dogs for an additional dollar a night. The campground allows a
maximum of two pets per site.
Who says you have to spend big bucks to stay next to the ocean? OCEANFRONT CAMPING AT REACH KNOLLS
provides rustic campsites on the shore of Eggemoggin Reach. Sites
are large and secluded, assuring maximum privacy. Prices are easily
affordable by everybody. There are sites for recreational vehicles as
well as tents, and the lobsters are right off the boat.
CAMDEN HILLS STATE PARK CAMPGROUND, is ideally located. It
provides a near wilderness experience, but one with easy access to
shops and restaurants. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
GREENLAND COVE CAMPGROUND caters to fishermen and families. This
is a rural, lakeside facility with wooded rails, a sandy beach,
waterfront and wooded campsites, water and electric hookups for RVs,
boat rentals, a camp store, a heated pool, a game room, and a
playground. Dogs on leashes are welcome
COBSCOOK BAY STATE PARK CAMPGROUND has 100 campsites secluded
enough to provide fairly secluded experiences. Some are located right
on the water. Amenities include hot showers, shelters, and a picnic
area. Campers are expected to clean up after their dogs and keep them
SEAVIEW CAMPGROUND his on an oceanside property jutting into
Passamaquoddy Bay. Tenters and RV owners can enjoy a beach, dock, boat
launch, recreation hall, laundry facilities, showers, and flush
o\toilets. Quiet, leashed, accompanied dogs are welcome.
When all is said and done,
FOREST RIDGE CAMPGROUND has the area's lowest rates. "More Bang for
your Buck," as the manager puts it. At Forest Ridge, you don't pay
extra for electricity, Cable TV, or a sewer connection. There are none
of those extra, annoying "Resort" fees! Here the Sites are large, the
Nights are quiet, the People are friendly, and Downtown Ellsworth is
only a mile away.
PATTEN POND CAMPING RESORT
has boat rentals, a playground, a basketball and volleyball court, a
game room, and camp store. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.
SUNSET POINT CAMPGROUND provides restrooms with showers, laundry
facilities, vending machines, island views, and trailer rentals.
Leashed, friendly pets are welcome.
RED BARN CAMPGROUND offers
visitors live entertainment and structured activities, "Bar Harbor at
half the price." Guests, who can get extended stay discounts, get
access to a pool, cable TV with premium channels, playground equipment,
and transportation. Children are free and pets are allowed.
WARREN ISLAND STATE PARK CAMPGROUND sits off the coast of
Lincolnville and is accessible only by boat. There are no phones, no
ferry, and just 10 campsites. It's for people who crave solitude. Dogs
must be leashed.
MOUNT DESERT CAMPGROUND
is a quiet waterfront campground catering mostly to tenters. Guests
enjoy a view overlooking the northern end of Somes Sound, a
boat-launching ramp, canoe rentals, a camp store, and lots of blueberry
bushes. Dogs are allowed only during the spring and fall.
SOMES SOUND VIEW CAMPGROUND
offers a heated inground pool and kayak rentals along with beautiful
views of nearby mountains and Somes Sound. There is playground
equipment and dogs are welcome.
CAMDEN HILLS RV RESORT can
accommodate any size RV. Some sites offer full hookups and cable TV
connections. There is a swimming pool and hot tub along with a camp
store, laundry facilities, and restrooms. Two picked-up after and
leashed dogs are allowed per site.
MEGUNTICOOK CAMPGROUND BY THE SEA
is a campground for Rvers and tenters with a heated swimming pool, a
bath house, laundry facilities, a camp store, lobster bakes, free
coffee, a playground, and waterfront gardens. Dogs must be leashed and
accompanied by owners with cleanup bags at all times.
SEARSPORT SHORES CAMPING RESORT
has as official greeter a Newfoundland. Fellow dogs are welcome to
join him on the campgrond's trails and beach as long as they are
leashed and quiet and have owners who will clean up after them.
SMUGGLER'S DEN CAMPGROUND
has a heated pool, a recreation field, and forested and sunny sites for both tenters and RV owners. One dog per site is welcome.
MAINAYR CAMPGROUND is located on 25 acres at the edge of a tidal
cove. There are 35 sites for tents, campers, and RVs. Families can
enjoy a playground, a small beach, laundry facilities, and a camp
store. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
OLD QUARRY OCEAN ADVENTURES CAMPGROUND offers spacious, uncrowded waterfront campsites. Your K-9 consort is welcome to accompany you.
MOUNTAINVIEW CAMPGROUND offers views of Flanders Bay and the mountains of Mount Desert Island. There is playground equipment and pets are welcome.
NARROWS TOO CAMPING RESORT
sports a waterfront location, a heated pool, basketball and volleyball
courts, and an on-site mini-golf course. Dogs must be leashed and
shouldn't be left alone.
